Zephras Uploader
A free desktop app that installs the Zephras Collector addon, keeps it up to date, and sends what it records to Zephras after you play.
Version 0.10.0, for Windows, Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel), and Linux.

What it does
- Installs the addon: the Install the addon button puts the Zephras Collector into your game, and the app updates it when a new version is out and the game is closed.
- Finds your save: it reads the addon's save file from the game folder by itself.
- Uploads after you play: with Upload automatically after playing ticked, it sends a new save once the game has written it. It sends only what changed; with nothing new it says so.
- Shares the game's cache: with Share quest and NPC cache ticked (it is on unless you untick it), it also sends the cache the game keeps of what its server told you: quest text, objectives, and rewards, and NPC and object names. Nothing personal.
- Feedback: Send feedback writes to the Zephras team privately, with the app's version and your last upload's fingerprint.
Installing
Zephras is a free project and does not pay for code signing, so your system asks once the first time.
- Windows: if "Windows protected your PC" appears, click More info, then Run anyway. It installs for your user only. Installing a newer version over an older one keeps your sign-in and settings.
- Mac: open the disk image, drag the app to Applications, then right-click it and choose Open the first time.
- Linux: install the .deb, or make the AppImage executable and run it (only the AppImage updates itself). Point the app at the game folder inside your Wine or Lutris prefix, under drive_c.
To check a download is genuine, compare its SHA-256 (Windows PowerShell: Get-FileHash; Mac and Linux: shasum -a 256) with the one under the download button; choosing another system shows its own.
Signing in
The app opens Zephras in your browser and shows a code. Check that the page shows the same code, sign in with Battle.net, and click Approve; the app continues by itself. The sign-in ties each upload to one account, so one person cannot pose as many. Zephras sees only your BattleTag.
What it sends and what happens next
- Files are encrypted on your PC so only Zephras can read them, and tied to your account.
- Zephras reads them as data and never runs them. Sending the same file again is safe: it is stored once.
- Your first upload waits for a reviewer. After that, a clean upload is accepted automatically; one the checks question waits for a reviewer. Accepted is not yet published: a record appears at the next morning's update once a trusted player or two players agree.
More in the privacy notice.
Updates and running in the background
The app checks for a new version when it starts and every six hours. Under App updates, choose whether it checks, installs by itself, and restarts by itself (the first two are on, restarting is off). Updates are signed, and the app installs only a correctly signed one.
Minimize the window to keep the app running in the system tray; click the tray icon to bring it back.
Questions
- It cannot find my save file.
- Play once with the addon enabled, then log out or type /reload: the game writes the file only then. If the game is not in its usual place, use Change game folder and pick the folder that holds the game's WTF and Interface folders.
- It says there is nothing new to upload.
- Your last save and cache were already sent. Play a little, log out or /reload, and it finds the new save.
- Does it change my game?
- Only the addon's own folder, when it installs or updates the Zephras Collector. It never talks to the game while it runs.
- Can I upload without the app?
- Yes, on the upload page in your browser.
